Chill on the Hill in Bay View

One of the highlights of Milwaukee's summer is Chill on the Hill. Held every Tuesday evening in Bay View's Humboldt Park, this event brings the community together with live music, food trucks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bring your favorite picnic blanket and a picnic to enjoy your while local bands provide the perfect soundtrack to a relaxing summer night.

 

Skyline Music 

Over in Riverwest, Skyline Music offers another fantastic option for music lovers. This concert series takes place on Tuesday evenings at Kadish Park and features a diverse lineup of bands. With stunning views of the Milwaukee skyline, it's a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some great tunes.


Zocalo Food Truck Park 

This food truck paradise is a hub of activity throughout the summer, hosting special events like comedy shows and concerts. It's a fantastic place to try a variety of delicious foods from different vendors, all while enjoying live entertainment. But where to begin?  Snag an arepa from Anytime Arepa or a bagel from Ruby’s and enjoy a competitive round of bean bags (or corn hole? What do we call it here?!?). The vibrant atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot in Milwaukee.


Bar Centro's Jazz Jam Night

For those who appreciate jazz, Bar Centro's Jazz Jam Night is a hidden gem. Every weekend from 7:30 – 10:00, local jazz musicians gather to jam together, creating an intimate and lively experience. The cozy ambiance of Bar Centro makes it a perfect place to enjoy some smooth tunes and great drinks.


Biking the Oak Leaf, Beerline, and Kinnickinnic Trails

Milwaukee's trail system is a paradise for cyclists. The Oak Leaf Trail, Beerline Trail, and Kinnickinnic Trail offer scenic routes that take you through parks, along rivers, and into charming MKE neighborhoods. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just looking for a leisurely ride, these trails are a fantastic way to explore the city.

Nonfiction Wine

When it's time to unwind, Nonfiction Wine is a great spot to relax and kick up your feet. Located in Bay View, this wine bar offers a curated selection of natural and organic wines. They offer indoor/outdoor seating as well as a spectacular menu of food items to complement the seasonal wines. Whether you're craving red, white, orange, or rosé, they've got something just for you. Not wine savvy?  No problemo. The friendly staff is happy to guide you through the selection and the menu. It's a cozy place to gather with friends and enjoy some sophisticated sips.


Shorewood and South Shore Farmer's Markets

For fresh, locally sourced produce, head to the Shorewood and South Shore Farmer's Markets. These markets are bustling with vendors selling everything from fruits and vegetables to handmade crafts. Ease into your weekend by spending a slow morning dreaming up some new recipes and directly support your local farmers and makers.


Atwater Beach & Kohler-Andrae State Park

Milwaukee's "ocean" is perfect for soaking up the summer sun! Atwater Beach in Shorewood is a local favorite, offering beautiful views of Lake Michigan and a peaceful setting. For a day trip, head to Kohler-Andrae State Park, where you can enjoy sandy shores, hiking trails, and picnic areas.

(And-if you’re looking for an epic workout-jog the stairs at Atwater. On your way up, prepare yourself for a Rocky moment at the top of the hill). 


Art64 Festival

Art enthusiasts will love the Art64 Festival, a two-day bracket-style painting tournament that takes place in The Village of Wauwatosa. In three rounds, artists go head-to-head and are given 60 minutes to create a work of art on canvas. People are invited to watch the paintings come to life and vote online, both in-person or virtually, for their favorite artist to advance. All artists receive winnings for being selected and participating in the competition, increasing each round with the sole winner taking home $20k. It's a fantastic way to experience Milwaukee's creative scene and support local talent.


Milwaukee Night Market

The Milwaukee Night Market is a free, outdoor event that brings together local vendors, performers, and artists. This event transforms the heart of downtown into an exciting showcase of everything the city has to offer. From rooftop bars to night markets, there's always something exciting happening after the sun sets. It's a great opportunity to explore different neighborhoods and enjoy the city's lively atmosphere.


Ope! Brewing

Beer lovers should not miss Ope! Brewing, a local brewery in West Allis known for its innovative craft beers. But it's more than just tasty beers and seltzers. Stop in for food trucks, bar games, live music, and more!

Gilles Frozen Custard

No summer in Milwaukee is complete without a visit to Gilles. This iconic spot has been serving up delicious frozen custard since 1938. It's the perfect treat to cool off on a hot day and a beloved tradition for many Milwaukeeans.
