Context

This historic colonial was purchased by a young family who wanted to rework the first floor while honoring the original 1923 character of their home.  R|R reshaped the layout to allow movement between the kitchen and dining room and creatively negotiated space to add a mudroom and powder room into the new floor plan.

Design

To bring more light and continuity between the first floor, our team reconfigured walls and reclaimed windows that had long been covered up. The kitchen was fitted with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, polished nickel and brushed brass. The kitchen and dining spaces are finished with an intersection of classic tile and refreshed original hardwood.

This old soul has truly been renewed for generations to come.

“The team took time with us—a very particular couple—to find the right design, finishes, materials, and colors. The level of design expertise, quality of construction, craftsmanship, and professionalism while working in our home was amazing.”
